Η έμπνευση της ημέρας (Τετάρτη 28-08-2019)

Σαν σήμερα το 1963 κατά τη διάρκεια πορείας υπέρ των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων των μαύρων στην Ουάσιγκτον, ο Μάρτιν Λούθερ Κινγκ εκφωνεί τον περίφημο λόγο του, που καθήλωσε την Αμερική αλλά και ολόκληρο τον πλανήτη, «I have a dream».

Έχω ένα όνειρο ότι μια μέρα αυτό το έθνος θα ξεσηκωθεί και θα ζήσει την αληθινό νόημα της πεποίθησής του: «Πιστεύουμε ως αυταπόδεικτη αλήθεια, ότι όλοι οι άνθρωποι είναι ίσοι»

Το 2014 γυρίστηκε η ταινία Selma που εξιστορεί την περιόδο τριών μηνών του 1965 όταν ο Μάρτιν Λούθερ Κινγκ ηγήθηκε μιας επικίνδυνης εκστρατείας με σκοπό την εξασφάλιση ίσων δικαιωμάτων ψήφου. Η επική πορεία που ξεκίνησε από την πόλη Σέλμα μέχρι το Μοντγκόμερι κορυφώθηκε με τον Πρόεδρο Τζόνσον να υπογράφει το νόμο περί δικαιωμάτων ψήφου. Η ταινία αφηγείται την ιστορία του πώς ο σεβαστός ηγέτης και οραματιστής ο Μάρτιν Λούθερ Κινγκ άλλαξε για πάντα την ιστορία.

Τη σκηνοθεσία ανέλαβε η Άβα ΝτυΒερνέ και το σενάριο έγραψε ο Πολ Γουέμπ, ενώ πρωταγωνιστούν οι Ντέιβιντ Ογιελόβο, Τομ Γουίλκινσον, Common, Κάρμεν Ετζόγκο, Τιμ Ροθ, Λορέιν Τουσέιν, Όπρα Γουίνφρεϊ κ.α. Η πρεμιέρα της ταινίας πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Φεστιβάλ Αμερικανικού Ινστιτούτου Κινηματογράφου στις 11 Νοεμβρίου 2014. Κυκλοφόρησε στους κινηματογράφους σε περιορισμένο κύκλωμα αιθουσών στις 25 Δεκεμβρίου 2014 ενώ σε ευρύτερη διανομή στις 9 Ιανουαρίου 2015. Το Selma απέσπασε θετικά σχόλια από τους κριτικούς και έλαβε δύο υποψηφιότητες για Όσκαρ Καλύτερης Ταινίας κερδίζοντας εκείνο του Καλύτερου Τραγουδιού και τέσσερις υποψηφιότητες για Χρυσή Σφαίρα μεταξύ των οποίων για Καλύτερη Ταινία – Δράμα, κερδίζοντας μία στην κατηγορία Καλύτερου Τραγουδιού.
